~21 REZ-equivalents tracked nationally across 5 jurisdictions. This page is the national context; the rest of the dashboard is the NSW deep dive. The shape of the cumulative-pressure problem is similar across jurisdictions — coordination is the differentiator, not policy or capital.
NSW + VIC + QLD + SA + Commonwealth offshore = the pipeline behind "Future Made in Australia". The headline number is 21; the harder question is how many will be coordinated enough to actually deliver against their stated capacity.
Five declared REZs under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020. CWO + SW have active access schemes; NE pending; HCC + Illawarra in early planning.
Five proposed REZs under VicGrid's transmission plan. Coordinated with the Commonwealth Gippsland offshore declared area for transmission integration.
Three regional renewable energy hubs identified by Powerlink. Less formal than NSW's declared REZs; more a network planning instrument than a coordinated development framework.
One proposed REZ corridor in SA's Mid-North. Smaller scale than the eastern-states REZs reflecting the SA grid's existing renewables penetration (already ~70%+).
Six federally declared offshore wind areas under the OEI Act 2021. Illawarra feasibility licence applications withdrawn Q1 2026 — zone open for R&D only. Hunter (Novocastrian Wind) feasibility licence not accepted by Equinor/Oceanex.
A consortium of six developers — Tilt Renewables, Squadron Energy, Iberdrola, Acciona Energía, Ark Energy and Voyager Renewables— pitched the Inland Renewable Energy Region to AEMO's 2026 ISP draft. They've asked AEMO to include the corridor in the Optimal Development Path as a "least-regret pathway" to coal-free NSW, framing the existing five declared REZs as insufficient for the post-coal generation requirement.
Tracked here as context — industry signal that the formal REZ pipeline may need to expand before NSW's coal-exit timeline lands. Not yet a declared or proposed REZ from EnergyCo; included to keep the national picture honest about what's in motion at industry level.
Renew Economy coverage (Feb 2026) ↗Lecroma REZ Project Watch national tracking, May 2026; sourced from EnergyCo NSW, VicGrid, Powerlink QLD, ElectraNet SA and DCCEEW offshore declared areas. Last verified 2026-05-25. This national table is a context layer; the NSW deep dive is where this dashboard's detail lives. Lecroma tracks all jurisdictions in client work; the public version is calibrated to NSW for defensibility.
